Grape Seed Oil May Help with Weight Loss

By Didi

According to a recent report, muscadine grape seed oil may help with weight loss. Scientists are always searching for new and innovative ways to aid in combating weight gain in the hopes of mitigating serious health issues which can arise as a result.grape seed oil may help with weight loss

With persistent research, we often learn of new superfoods we have not previously heard of, or in some cases we discover that foods we have consumed all along have been better for us than we ever knew.

For many people, simply re-structuring their diet and exercising is not always enough to lose weight and keep it off, which is why it is helpful to discover foods or food products that can assist or accelerate those efforts.

Muscadine grape seed oil happens to be one of those products catching the eye of scientists these days.

What Does Research Say About Muscadine Grape Seed Oil?

This type of oil is important as it produces tocotrienol, a derivative of Vitamin E, and it is thought to be helpful in reducing the amount of new fat cells being generated in the human body.

Vitamin E is also shown to aid in boosting immune health and preventing heart disease, in addition to being vital in maintaining the structure and function of bones, the cardiovascular system, and smooth muscle.

Of course, the real powerhouse in grape seed oil is tocotrienol; scientists have known of its health benefits for a while, but previously believed rice bran oil and red palm oil had the highest concentrations of tocotrienol.

It seems grape seed oil may be a far better source, once growers are able to produce the grapes in larger quantities in order to make this valuable oil more easily accessible to a wider population.

By also adding additional tocotrienol from other muscadine grape varieties in the process of producing this oil, scientists are confident this could help to prevent obesity.

At times, it is hard not to be skeptical at the latest research surfacing about ways to aid in weight loss and prevent obesity.

Some suggestions seem like more of a fad than anything truly substantive. But in reading through the research put forth by University of Florida researchers regarding Muscadine grape seed oil, one may be right to think that they very well could be onto something.

Right now, their theories are tentative and there has not been a long-term study conducted on the health benefits of grape seed oil.

Much of the scientists’ supposition lies in considering what they already know. For instance, grape seed oil also contains mono- and polyunsaturated fatty acids, and there have been studies on these acids proving they are good for the body.

They therefore have a reasonable hypothesis on how tocotrienol will react to fat cells in the body and curtail production of new fat cells.

Final Thoughts

More extensive testing and studies must be done, but considering the viability of grape seed oil, it is important to note that even if it turns out that consumption of the oil does not aid in weight loss, it is still a valuable oil to consume.

It contains important acids and nutrients, which contribute to boosting overall health, so there is no risk in consuming it and testing for yourself its effectiveness with regards to weight loss.

It is a promising prospect, and we look forward to seeing further research and testing done to confirm its weight loss benefits.
