If you struggle with your weight and have tried different diets and lifestyle changes in an attempt to maintain a healthy weight, you are not alone.
Millions of people are going through the same struggle, sometimes losing the weight they hope to lose only to gain it back for a variety of reasons (stress is a big trigger and can so often lead to weight fluctuations).
Being overweight can have many negative ramifications. It can lead to a feeling of poor self-esteem and body image, sometimes making people more susceptible to feelings of depression and inadequacy in other aspects of their life.
Health issues can include heart disease and diabetes. The entire body can be negatively impacted because being overweight can sap energy and place a strain on the body structure, subsequently leading to knee and back problems and much more.
Staying active and utilizing a variety of exercise (cardio, weight-lifting, yoga, etc.) techniques can help to stave off some of the more serious health complications.
But when the weight simply does not go away quickly or easily, some people may begin to consider medical treatments to assist.
One such treatment recently approved by the FDA is known as a stomach-filling (intragastric) balloon.
What is the Stomach Filling Balloon for Weight Loss?
The stomach-filling balloon is an inflatable medical device inserted into the stomach and filled with a saline solution, which is meant to fill up space in the stomach and lead to weight loss by creating a feeling of fullness for those using it.
The intended effect is that patients will generally begin to feel less hungry and then consume smaller portions as part of a permanent lifestyle change.
The procedure used to insert such a device is far less invasive than other medical weight loss options, such as LAP-band or gastric bypass, both of which can lead to far more serious complications post-surgery.
When having the stomach-filling balloon inserted, patients are sedated and the procedure generally takes about 30 minutes. The post-operative recovery is much quicker and easier to heal from as well, as the balloon is inserted via an endoscope and there are no major incisions.
The intragastric balloon remains in the stomach for a period of six months before it is removed.
If the doctor and patient feel it is necessary for the balloon to remain in the stomach for a longer period of time, then the balloon must still be removed and a new intragastric balloon must be inserted.
What are the Side Effects of the Stomach Filling Balloon?
The most common side effects patients may experience include nausea and vomiting for a few days immediately following the procedure.
According to expert report, there is a slim chance the balloon could spontaneously deflate; your doctor will place a dye inside the balloon called Methlyene Blue. This will help in identifying early deflation or leakage, as it will change the color of urine to green.
As with all procedures to aid in weight loss, much of the success of this procedure depends on the patient themselves.
The intragastric balloon helps with weight loss by creating a sense of fullness for patients, causing them to drastically reduce their food intake. But it is not foolproof in the sense that if the patient is unable to curb their overeating, they can still eat to excess.
With this device inserted, it is not safe to overeat and the patient will usually feel unwell if they do, but the choice is still theirs.
Such procedures should be undertaken in conjunction with a commitment to lifestyle changes. It is often helpful to speak with a dietician/nutritionist and personal trainer to understand how to incorporate healthy eating and exercise as part of an overall lifestyle metamorphosis, aided by the stomach balloon.
Instragastric ballon may help with weight loss, but it still has some side effects and limitations. I don’t know about you, but I don’t feel comfortable having any foreign object (an inflatable balloon) inserted in my stomach.
So before you decide to go for the stomach filling balloon, why don’t you try diet pills first. Truth is, there are effective weight loss supplements you can actually take advantage of. One of such supplements is Phen375 – a potent fat burner and appetite suppressant.
Combining phen375 with healthy diet and exercise will surely help you shed the excess pound.
