The nights are getting brighter, the air feels warmer and you can smell the dew in the sweet spring mist. The start of summer is a very uplifting time after the dreary winter months and lack of sunshine.
As our favorite season beckons, everything suddenly goes from bleak to beauty, including your mood and perception of life.
This makes summer a great time to kick-start your weight loss goals, no longer are you trapped indoors or the same 4 walls of the gym.
You can instead venture back outside and take up your favorite sport or try something completely new.
If you are looking for summer sports to burn fat fast, then you should try out some of our recommendations here as they are great for burning fat this summer and will give you a great beach body.
#1. Hill Sprints
While this is not necessarily considered a ‘sport’ it certainly has the same effects.
Hill sprints are very effective for fat burning by using high intensity interval training.
It is also a good change from doing your incline sprints on the treadmill as you will be running up and down un-even ground, shocking your body in the process.
You are also less likely to get injured doing hill sprints as there is less impact and shock absorption on your joints or bones.
The good thing about short intense bursts of exercise is, they can be done quickly, meaning hill sprints are a good solution for those lacking time in their schedules.
#2. Beach Volleyball
If you are lucky enough to live near the beach you should capitalize on being able to play beach volleyball.
It offers an intense way to work out and most popular beaches in the US will offer classes for beginners so you don’t have to throw yourself in at the deep end.
As no two volleyball matches will be exactly the same your fat loss should easily break through any plateaus. Expect to greatly improve your hand-eye co-ordination and spatial awareness with beach volleyball too.

#3. Soccer
You don’t get to see many obese soccer players for good reasons, the main one being that soccer is a good full body workout that burns fat fast.
Soccer requires speed, strength, agility, reaction and mental focus whenever you play.
Look to join a team if you have no friends who play soccer, the sense of team work can bring out the best in you and also introduce you to new workout buddies.
Your skeletal muscles and cardiovascular system are put under needed stress that is necessary for maximum fat burning.
Be sure to eat a balanced pre and post workout meal before every session to maintain muscle tissue when in a catabolic state.

#4. Roller Blading
The average human carries 60% of their muscle mass in their lower body including gluteus, hamstrings, quadriceps and calf muscles.
Roller blading targets all of these muscles and means you can burn a lot of calories by taking up this fun activity.
It offers a great alternative to strolling but will require concentration and practice for you to achieve maximum fat burning benefits.
Also, when you build the muscles in your lower body you will require more calories to maintain them – leading to an all-round leaner body composition and metabolism that burns calories at a high rate.

#5. Rock Climbing or Free Running
One for the dare devils that requires more mental strength than physical. Both are needed in high amounts as you will constantly be holding up, moving or lifting your own body weight against gravity.
This requires great core strength also, so you can burn excess fat and work on your washboard abs at the same time.
Try a beginner’s class at this if you have never tried before as failure to prepare for these activities is VERY dangerous.
We believe there is a sport out there for everybody and if there is any you would like us to add to our list, feel free to share it via the comment form! We hope you make the most of the great outdoors like we plan to do this summer. Enjoy!
